This does not ask you to “trust NASA.” It asks a sharper question: if the Sun is nearby and circling above a flat plane, can that model predict the same sunrise, sunset, solar-noon, direction, and sky-angle patterns that ordinary public almanacs predict?

Solar values use standard approximate public almanac geometry: declination, equation of time, hour angle, and latitude/longitude. It is intentionally transparent rather than black-boxed.
